DOI External Training Page

The U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) requires training for new employees, contractors, affiliates, and others who do not have access to DOI’s official learning management system, DOI Talent. The courses featured on this page are accessible on other learning platforms. All DOI Staff with network access must log in to DOI Talent to complete all training and should not use this option. 

External Training Through eDOIU

The following courses require creating an account on eDOIU, the external-facing learning management system. Instructions for creating the eDOIU account are found below.

  • Information Management and Technology (IMT) Awareness Training -  All new employees, contractors, or others requiring network access to the DOI, must complete all modules in this course.

  • DOI Incident Response (IR) Overview - All new employees, contractors, or others with Privacy or Significant Information Security Responsibilities must take this course. 

  • Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) - Partner entities responsible for protecting DOI information must complete this course. DOI employees must complete the copy of this course in DOI Talent. 

  • Transit Benefit Integrity Training - Federal employees receiving a transit subsidy benefit from the Department must complete this course. Approving Officials are also required to complete this course.  

  • Bicycle Subsidy Benefit Program Course - This course is required for federal employees to receive financial assistance for purchasing, improving, repairing, storing, and maintaining a non-motorized bicycle used to commute to and from work.  

Instructions for creating an eDOIU account and finding courses: 

  1. Go to the eDOIU website.  
  2. On the eDOIU login page, scroll down and select the “Create new account” button on the right. 
  3. Carefully read the Keys for Success. 
  4. Complete all required fields on the New Account page, check the Security Challenge box, and complete the verification. 
  5. Click the “Request account” button at the bottom of the page. 
  6. Once your account is approved, log in to eDOIU.  
  7. On the eDOIU homepage, look for the courses in the featured learning block at the top of the homepage or click “Search Catalog” in the menu bar at the top and select “Courses” from the dropdown menu to search for a course.  
  8. On the course page, select the “Enroll” button. 
  9. After you complete the course, you must send a copy of your course completion certificate to your supervisor or Human Resources hiring manager. Please save a copy of your completion certificate for your records. 

IMPORTANT FOR IMT AWARENESS TRAINING ONLY: Once you have access to DOI Talent, new staff must find the IMT Awareness course in the “Current Learning” section of the homepage and follow the directions in the New Employee section of the course. 


Additional Resources/Training Outside of eDOIU 

Telework Training - The Telework.gov site offers Telework Training for employees and managers. The courses on the Telework.gov site match the courses in DOI Talent.
